Hehe, i would not say its the same story as Pocahontas.
But, like 1000 other movies its alot about human greed and what lengths we're able to go to in the name of money. Which was also the case in Pocahontas.
Just like there are a 1000 movies about a "good guy" and a "bad guy" - "happy endings" and the like. Movies are to entertain and all follow a certain "script" for success, else people would not like to watch it. Realistic movies where the good guy actually dies are of a younger age, but strangely, that good guy kicks plenty of bad guys ass before he dies...at the very end of the movie. So in short its just the same story as any other "happy ending" movies, just that the good guy dies. The rest of the movie would be the same.
And as such, yes, ofc you have seen similar motives in other movies as you do in Avatar, but what makes a movie good is not just the storieline, but the execution of it. The scenery used for each scene, the characters, how well the actors play, how realistic the animations are, how believable it is, how well the movie can make you relate to it and a million other factors. I think Avatar is a very good movie because its a "old story" (human greed) but done differently and executed very well.
(Yes, im no use discussing with because i've already seen it twice at the cinemas - and yes, there is going to be a thrid time too once i get back to Tromsø, or possibly the IMAX in Oslo)
